Genesee County Youth Corp.

REACH Runaway Program: Mission – To help families in crisis and offer safe housing to runaways. Traverse Place: Mission – Empower young people to take control of their lives in positive and purposeful. And encourage them to become more self-supportive.
The Goals

To preserve, assist, and reunite families whenever possible. To offer a community-based alternative to the juvenile justice, or court process, for runaway youth. To provide safe, secure, short-term shelter for runaways. And to assist young people in identifying and using other appropriate community services.
The Staff

The shelter is open 24 hours a day and staffed by both professional counselors and youth care workers to supervise the residents.
Traverse Place

Traverse Place is a large spacious and comfortable facility, offering 24 hour supervision by trained staff. It has divided living quarters for males and females and can accommodate up to 8 individuals each having their own room.
Traverse Place Requirements

Residents are required to obtain employment, attend school if not already completed and set aside at least 60% of their income to establish future independent living.
